-THE BEGINNING-

Before owning a house again, it was just me in my Grim Reaper costume acting like an animatronic. I would set up at various friends places so the same kids never saw me twice. I would wear my goalie chest armour as every person pokes the chest first to see if it is a real person. Then, they go for the wrist so I wore extra padding there as well. Then, they would shine light in your eyes but I had one of those black mesh masks under the skull with added reflective lenses. I also ran a power cord from my belt loop out to some unknown location where I was 'clearly' plugged in. A slow strobe light allowed me freedom of weight shifting.

You learn a lot about the human psyche while folks are standing there prodding you trying to figure out if you are real or not. Parents , in particular dads, were the most fascinating as they always were reasoning the possibilities.

I remember one father shining his flashlight in my eyes as he moved his hand slowly back and forth, and I followed it. 'See..motion sensors,' he proudly exclaimed to his boys, just before I grabbed his wrist and made him scream like an 8 year old. As his boys ran away they shouted, 'Thank you!'. Haha, I wish I had night video of all the scares, as there were some good ones. I know THOSE folks will remember it, and thats what really counts...
